Icy Strait Point, Alaska
Icy Strait Point Fishing + Bear Watching
This Icy Strait Point fishing tour is designed for cruise ship passengers that are looking for an Alaskan excursion that is off the beaten path. We’ll depart Icy Strait Point and drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah before merging onto old logging roads that will take us to a remote river. During the car ride and along the river it is common to spot wildlife- the island has more brown bears per square mile than almost anywhere else on the planet.
We’ll be fishing a wild “last frontier” type area with little signs of civilization to be found. As we fish and hike along the river, you will be amazed by the surrounding nature. We may even have the chance to watch salmon spawn and pick wild berries.
Depending on the time of year, we’ll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. You will have the choice between fly fishing and spin fishing, and we provide casting lessons for those new to fishing. Going fishing in Hoonah, Alaska is the perfect way to check an activity off your bucket list while at the same time exploring a new place and seeing wildlife.

NOTE: Chest waders (provided) are required for this trip. If the circumference of your calf is greater than 17 inches, our waders might not fit you. If you have large calves, please bring your own. Unfortunately, no refunds will be given if you are unable to participate if our waders do not fit you.

Icy Strait Point Bear Search + Island Adventure
Bear watching near Icy Strait Point is about as good as it gets. Chichagof Island has among the highest brown bear population densities in the world. We’ll travel from Icy Strait Point through the Tlingit village of Hoonah, then across the island on old logging roads. We will search for bears who are foraging along remote rivers and beaches. We can remain in the vehicle throughout the tour, or get out and do some short walks if you prefer. You'll travel off the beaten path and visit areas of the island that most cruise ship passengers never see. We will see untouched nature and enjoy the solitude of this wild place. This is a personalized tour with an Alaskan resident as your guide.

Icy Strait Point Sea Kayaking
Join us for a relaxing sea kayaking trip from Hoonah, Alaska near Icy Strait Point. We will watch for bears roaming the coastline and sea creatures swimming alongside us. It is common to spot bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions, porpoises, and even whales as we paddle through the waters near Icy Strait. This is a private trip– no waiting around for slower guests or feeling like you have to keep up with a speedster!
